Rivercess County
Created in 1985 from Grand Bassa County, Rivercess County is one of Liberia’s 15 counties, located in the South-Central Region with its capital in Cestos City.
Named after the Cestos River that flows through and defines much of its landscape, Rivercess is Liberia’s least populous county and is distinguished by its Atlantic coastline, dense tropical forests, timber resources, and the predominantly Bassa-speaking communities whose agricultural and fishing livelihoods shape the county’s economy. According to the 2022 LISGIS Population and Housing Census, the county has a population of 90,819 distributed across 8 Administrative Districts and 2 Electoral Districts.
