Established on March 19, 1984 from Montserrado County, Bomi County is one of Liberia’s 15 counties, situated in the Northwestern Region with its capital in Tubmanburg.

Bomi takes its name from the Gola word for “light”: a fitting identity for the county that served as Liberia’s first cradle of commercial iron ore mining and today holds a population of 133,705 across 5 Administrative Districts and 3 Electoral Districts, per the 2022 LISGIS Census.
