Gbarpolu County

 

Created on May 9, 2001 from Lofa County, Gbarpolu County is one of Liberia’s 15 counties, located in the Northwestern Region with its capital in Bopolu.

Named after the Gbar and Polo rivers that traverse much of its landscape, Gbarpolu is Liberia’s newest county and is renowned for its extensive forests, rich mineral resources, agricultural potential, and biodiversity. According to the 2022 LISGIS Population and Housing Census, the county has a population of 95,930 distributed across 6 Administrative Districts and 3 Electoral Districts.
